I appreciate the literary back story with Daniel and Darius. Daniel as tax consultant! Also, he demonstrates his facility with languages.

I don't know if I have mentioned this before, but I am a fan of the show "The Chosen." It has many alternative stories to flesh it out.

Nicely done, Ashley.

Thanks James! It was fun to envision what kind of favor God could have given Daniel in his many powerful roles in Babylon.

Yes! The Chosen! I have heard such good things! I think our missions are similar--to flesh out the stories and bring them to wider audiences. I need to watch it!

Such a touching rendition of this story! I enjoyed this glimpse into the kind relationship between the king and Daniel. The lions are usually the main characters of this well known Bible story, so it was remarkable to be so engaged in the king’s thoughts that the lions seemed secondary!

When I first started writing this one, I started with the lions because I agree, they're certainly compelling and usually take center stage! As you noted, the relationship between Darius and Daniel is actually what it morphed into. Thanks for your insights and encouragement!

I never considered the perspective of Darius before. It must have been a powerful moment to peer down the den.

Darius' voice just happened to come out in this one. I swear I started with Daniel in the actual den, funny how the stories start to take their own shape. Yes! Powerful moment. I've sat in that since reading your comment. Very cool.
